Chalan Beel Sewing Training and Sales Centre in Chatmohar, Pabna was inaugurated on the 5th September 2021. The centre is an initiative of Sheba and the day to day running and management has been assigned to our partner in Bangladesh ‘Alternative Approach’.

The initial funding of Taka 900,000 (approx A$ 15,000) was provided by our patrons Dr Shabana Karim and Dr Parvez Karim from the USA.

The inauguration was conducted through a hybrid session connecting people across three countries (Bangladesh, Australia and the USA) through various time zones. The event was presided over by Mr Mozibul Haque Shamaji, Project Director of ‘We care’ project of Local Government Engineering Department, Bangladesh. The centre was inaugurated by the principal doner Dr Parvez Karim (USA). Valiant freedom fighter, eminent businessman and philanthropist Mr Kamrul Chowdhury (recipient of Order of Australia Medal) was present as the chief guest of the event.

Members of Sheba, Alternative Approach, dignitaries from Melbourne, the trainer and the trainees of the centre and the members of the civic society of Chatmohar were present at the event.
